ID4Africa LiveCast EP38: Digital Identity in the Service of Social Protection

LiveCast EP38 on March 22 covers an increasingly important topic in ID4D – Digital ID and Social Protection (SP).

We believe that there are significant synergies between identity and social protection systems. SP programs require ID systems for targeting and identification of beneficiaries. In return, they represent high impact applications that can boost demand for foundation ID if delivery of social services is linked to an ID.

Join us as we explore the the twinning between ID and social protection and the impact that can be obtained. We look at 4 case studies starting with i-On-Sierra Leone. In this first segment, we explore how the country has used identity for public service delivery including for supporting their national financial inclusion strategy that aims to bring the poor and those in the informal sectors into the banking sector.

The next three segments will look at the use of identity in humanitarian actions, including for programs run by the WFP, Red Cross and national financial inclusion initiatives across Africa.

This episode will be followed by an important session (PS2) on the opening day of the AGM in Nairobi, where we will explore the power of SP as a driver of adoption of identity programs. This is knowledge you can trust, content you cannot miss!
